i would love examples? idk he doesn’t seem particularly sexist at all in his daily life (as someone who reads every single tweet he makes) but i totally believe that there could be vaguely sexist themes in his work 

I’ve only ever heard where that he uses women as the villains in his work way more often than men, which I can see - the person who said this to me said a lot of his works as examples but the only ones I can remember are Coraline, and Mirrormask (which I haven’t read).

*also, now I think about American Gods, there’s a lot of objectification in there - Bast, Queen of Sheba, Easter stick out as goddesses that are literally only there to have sex/be sexy. 

Also, Idk, I can’t explain why right now because I’m only just thinking about it, but I feel like his female characters (that I’ve read about) get half as much stuff to do as his ‘every guy’ protagonists. Like, maybe ‘strong’ women characters rather than actual strong women characters? 

I really want to re-read some Gaiman now, it’ll have to wait til my assessment period is over though.

Every Gaiman story with a female protagonist is the same story. Coraline, Mirrormask, A Game Of You….

Also the Calliope story is fifty kinds of gross.

I could write a whole article on the whole situation with the Moon deciding that Wanda isn’t a woman because she can’t menstruate and doesn’t have ovaries. Sure, Wanda says “Fuck the moon” and all, but in the end she’s still being blocked from going on an adventure meant exclusively for women, an adventure that WOULD HAVE PREVENTED HER GRISLY DEATH, because a force of nature tied to some inherent magical gender/sex bond has decided that only cis women are women.

Oh, you say, but Barbie redeemed Wanda by writing her name over the “Alvin” on her tombstone. Um yeah but you know, Wanda wouldn’t have to be redeemed by her cis-gendered, blonde, straight, white friend if SHE HAD GONE ON THE TRIP FOR WOMEN, TOO, AND THEREFORE WOULDN’T HAVE DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Every other trans* character is killed, too. Every. One.

Except Desire, of course.
